Das Øyafestivalen (auch Øya Festival[2][3][4]) ist ein norwegisches jährliches Pop- und Rockfestival Musikfestival in Oslo. Das Øyafestival findet im August statt und ist der Nachfolger des Kalvøyafestivals.

Geschichte

Das Kalvøyafestivals fand von 1971 bis 1997 auf der Insel Kalvøya statt. Ab 1999 fand das neue Øyafestivalen zunächst ebenfalls auf der Insel statt. Øya steht für „Insel”. Im Jahr 2001 ist das Festival in dem im Jahr 2000 erbauten Middelalderparken umgezogen.[5] Der Name wurde beibehalten, auch wenn das Festival nicht mehr auf einer Insel sondern mittlerweile in der Stadt stattfindet. Im Jahr 2014 ist aufgrund von Eisenbahnarbeiten das Festival vorübergehend zum Tøyenparken umgezogen.[6][7] Unter dem Namen Øyanatt werden Konzerte und Clubkonzepte in der Innenstadt von Oslo durchgeführt, nachdem der Tøyenparken um 23 Uhr schliesst.

Das Festival geht mittlerweile (Stand 2015) über fünf Tage und besteht aus mehreren Hauptbühnen. Bevor das Festival beginnt, wird in Oslo eine Klubnacht veranstaltet.[7] Das Festival wurde im Jahr 2011 mit dem mit 100.000 Norwegische Kronen dotierten Kulturpreis der Stadt Oslo ausgezeichnet.[8] 2018 hat sich Superstruct Entertainment mit dem CEO James Barton als Investor dem Festival angeschlossen. Superstruct Entertainment wird von dem Private Equity Unternehmen Providence Equity Partners unterstützt.[9]

Nach der Klubnacht eröffnete Mikhael Paskalev das Festival, welches 2013 vom 6. August bis 10. August stattgefunden hat. Den Schlusspunkt setzte The Knife.[7] Zum zwölften Mal in Folge wurden alle Karten zum Festival bereits im Voraus verkauft.[17] Headliners waren Blur und Kraftwerk.[18]
