Am 29. Juli 2020 wurde stattdessen erstmals Wacken World Wide mit Konzerthighlights u. a. von Doro, Body Count feat. Ice-T, Anthrax und Rage sowie Specials wie die Guitar-Clinic mit Diamond Head`s Brian Tatler und Soen’s Cody Ford. veranstaltet.[36]
2021
Das 31. Festival ist vom 29. bis 31. Juli 2021 geplant. Aufgrund der COVID-19-Pandemie ist das Festival 2020 ausgefallen. 2021 wird zum ersten Mal in der Geschichte des Festivals das Infield jedoch bereits am Mittwoch öffnen. Geplant sind am Mittwoch Auftritte u. a. von Lindemann, Clawfinger und Varang Nord.[37] Am 27. Juli 2020 waren die Karten für Wacken Open Air 2021 bereits ausverkauft.[38]
