Pitivi (früher auch PiTiVi) ist ein Open Source nichtlinearer Video- und Audio-Editor für Linux. Er steht unter der Lizenz GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL).
Der Editor verwendet das freie Multimedia-Framework GStreamer und ist vorwiegend in Python programmiert.[3] Das Projekt wird von dem Unternehmen Collabora unterstützt.[4] Collabora wurde im Juli 2005 von Robert McQueen und Philippe Kalaf gegründet.
Geschichte
PiTiVi war von Dezember 2003 bis März 2005 die Abschlußarbeit des Entwicklers Edward Herve[5] während seines Studiums an der "École pour l’informatique et les nouvelles technologies" (EPITECH) in Paris, Frankreich.[4] Der erste Commit war im Mai 2004[6] Im Jahr 2008 war Pitivi ein Projekt im Google Summer of Code (GSoC).[7] 2014 lief eine Crowdfunding-Kampagne zur Weiterentwicklung des Projektes. Die Crowdfunding-Kampagne lief über die Gnome Foundation.[8][9]
