== Bandgeschichte ==

Als [[Sextett]] wurde Nappy Roots 1995 von sechs Studenten der [[Western Kentucky University]] in Bowling Green gegründet. Die vier Mitglieder Skinny DeVille, B. Stille, Ron Clutch und Big V stammen aus Kentucky, die zwei restlichen Mitglieder [[R. Prophet]] und Milledgeville stammen aus [[Oakland]]. Im Jahr 1998 veröffentlichte das Sextett ihr [[Debütalbum]] ''Country Fried Cess''. Die Musiklabels wurden danach auf Nappy Roots aufmerksam und so schlossen sie einen Vertrag mit [[Atlantic Records]]. Das Labeldebüt ''Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz'' wurde im Jahr 2002 veröffentlicht und erreichte Platin. Nach einer langen Pause wurde dann erst im August 2008 das Album ''The Humdinger'' veröffentlicht. Erstmals war R. Prophet nicht mehr dabei, der die Gruppe verlassen hatte, um eine Solokarriere zu beginnen. Seit dem ist Nappy Roots als Quintett unterwegs. Das 2011 veröffentlichte Album ''Nappy Dot Org'' wurde gemeinsam mit dem Trio [[Organized Noize]] (Rico Wade, Ray Murray und Sleepy Brown) eingespielt.
