Kíla are an Irish folk music/world music group. The original lineup for the band was Eoin Dillon; Uileann pipes, Colm Mac Con Iomaire; fiddle, Rossa Ó Snodaigh; Whistle, Bones, Rónán Ó Snodaigh; Bodhrán, Karl Odlum; Bass, David Odlum, Guitar. Kíla was formed in 1987 in the Irish Language secondary school, Coláiste Eoin in Co. Dublin. Colm Ó Snodaigh joined the band in 1988 for Kíla's first festival appearance at the European Youth Music Festival, which was held in Bonn in Germany.

In 1991, Colm Mac Con Iomaire and Dave Odlum left Kíla to join The Frames, an Irish rock band. In the same year, Dee Armstrong joined the band as a replacement for Colm Mac Con Iomaire and Eoin O'Brien replaced Dave Odlum. Dave Reidy also joined as a lead guitarist, though he emigrated to San Francisco a year later. Karl was then replaced by Ed Kelly on bass who emigrated to Scotland a little over a year after the recording Mind the Gap in 1994. Eoin O'Brien was replaced by Lance Hogan and Laurence O Keefe filled Ed's shoes till Brian Hogan assumed pole position on bass prior to recording Tóg É Go Bog É. This line-up has been unchanged since 1996.

Rónán, Rossa, and Colm are sons of publisher Pádraig Ó Snodaigh and artist Cliodna Cussen, and brother of Irish parliamentarian, Aengus Ó Snodaigh. Brian and Lance are sons of folk singer Larry Hogan and artist Róisín Daly. Dee is the daughter of classical musicians: keyboardist Gillian Armstrong and oboist Lindsey Armstrong.

They have travelled the world for the past ten years and have played at many, many festivals including Dún Laoghaire Festival of World Cultures, Electric Picnic, Womadelaide, Glastonbury, Féile an Dóilín, St Chartier and The Stockholm Water Festival. Their music is widely distributed around the world both physically through their website [1] and digitally through iTunes. They all compose, arrange and conjure up the many different sonic "colours" that have become their musical trademark.

• Lance Hogan - Born in Limerick in 1969 Lance Hogan grew up in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. He is a music producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist. He has worked with artists as diverse as Dead Can Dance, Kila, U2 and Oscar winning Director Neil Jordan. He has toured the world with Dead Can Dance and Kila performing to sell-out crowds. In the studio he has produced five gold albums and one platinum album to date. He recently produced a new version of the Classic Horslips track 'Trouble With A Capital T' for a new music TV Series The Raw Sessions with The Trouble Makers who are made up of members of Horslips, The Republic of Loose, The Blizzards, Kevin Godley, Kila, Richie Buckley. Any profits from this single will go towards charity Irish Youth Foundation.
