God Module (von Fans kurz God Mod genannt) ist eine US-amerikanische Musikprojekt (Electro, Gothic, Industrial) von Jasyn Bangert aus Seattle.[1] Bei Liveauftritten wird er von Andrew Pearson unterstützt.[2] Der Name "God Module" wird in der 20. Episode der 5. Staffel der Fernsehserie "Akte X – Die unheimlichen Fälle des FBI" verwendet.[3]

Geschichte

God Module wurde 1997 in Orlando im US-Bundesstaat Florida von Jasyn Bangert (Gesang, Synthesizer, Programming) und Andrew Ramirez (Gesang, Synthesizer, Programming) gegründet.[4] Das Debütalbum "Artificial" wurde 1999 veröffentlicht.[5] Im Juni 2003 spielte God Module beim Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig. Weitere Auftritte waren dort im Juni 2006, Juni 2014 und Mai 2018. Am 23. August 2003 trat God Module beim Infest Festival in England auf. Ebenfalls 2003 wurde aus God Module ein Soloprojekt von Mitgründer Jasyn Bangert.[6] 2004 folgte das Album "Artificial 2.0" und 2005 mit "Viscera" das erste Album über Metropolis von Dave Heckman.[5] 2005 kamen Courtney Bangert (Gesang) alias Courtney Tittiger und Byron C. Miller (Synthesizer, Programming) zu God Module hinzu.[7] 2006 zog das Musikprojekt in den US-Bundesstaat Washington um.[8]

Es folgten die Alben "Let's Go Dark" (2007) und "Séance" (2011). Am 20. Oktober 2012 spielte God Module beim 5. Octoberflame-Event der Psychobilly-Band Tiger Army aus San Francisco.[9] 2013 wurde die Kompilation "Psychic Surgery: The Victims Among Friends & Perception EPs" als Doppelalbum veröffentlicht. Es folgten das Album "False Face" (2014), welches über die Crowdfunding-Plattform Indiegogo finanziert wurde.[10] Danach folgten das Album "Prophecy" (2015), die Kompilation "Does This Stuff Freak You Out? (A Retrospective)" (2017) und das Album "The Unsound" (2019). Von "The Unsound" wurden die Songs "Cross My Heart", "Unconscious" und "Unsound" über Infacted Recordings als Trilogie einzeln mit zusätzlichen Versionen veröffentlicht.[11] Im Oktober 2019 tritt God Module beim Autumn Moon Festival in Hameln in Niedersachsen auf.[12] am 7. August 2020 erschien von "The Unsound" ein Remixalbum mit Remixen von Iris, Amnestic, ESA (Jamie Blacker), Baby Magick, Ruined Conflict, ES23, System Syn, Wolftron, Reichsfeind (Timo Cromm), Absynthe Of Faith, Finite Automata, Ghostfeeder (Derek Walborn), Invallid (INVA//ID), Velvet Acid Christ, Funker Vogt, Aircrash Bureau und Rodney Anonymous (Rodney Linderman).[13]
