Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams ist eine US-amerikanische Folk-Rock-Band. Sie wurde 1998 in Sleepy Hollow gegründet.

Bandgeschichte

Joziah Longo, Tink Lloyd und Sharkey McEwan spielten Ende der 1980er bis Anfang der 1990er Jahre in der Rockband The Ancestors. Aufgrund des Drucks der Musikindustrie beendeten sie The Ancestors und ließen sich in der Gegend von Sleepy Hollow im US-Bundesstaat New York nieder. Der Schlagzeuger Tony Zuzulo kam 1998 hinzu und sie gründeten die Band Gandalf Murphy.[1] Sie begann in Sleepy Hollow als ein Projekt an einer Kunstschule.[2]

Joziah Longo (Text, Gesang, Gitarre, Mundharmonika) und Tink Lloyd (Multiinstrumentalistin) sind ein Ehepaar.[3] Zwischendurch spielten u. a. auch ihr Sohn Chen Longo (Bass) in der Band.[1] Die Band veröffentlichte bereits mehrere Studioalben, teilweise auf dem eigenen Label High Noon Records.[1] 1998 veröffentlichten sie das Studioalbum "A Good Thief Tips His Hat", 2004 das Doppel-Studioalbum "Flapjacks From The Sky", 2008 das Studioalbum "The Great Unravel" und 2010 das Studioalbum "The Grand Slambovians".[2] Zusätzlich veröffentlichten sie weitere Alben.

Der Schlagzeuger Felipe Torres spielte u. a. schon für The Monkees und The Davy Jones Band. Der Bassist Bob Torsello war Gründungsmitglied der Band Shrubs und der Spoken-Word-Gruppe Janet Hamill and Moving Star. Er spielte schon für Patti Smith, David Amram , Glenn Mercer (The Feelies) und Lenny Kaye.[2]
